The latest returns in the Presidential election make the popular vote:—Roosevelt 26,077.000 Willkie 21.691.000 Majority 4,386.000 The State and Electoral College votes are:—• States. Electoral Votes Roosevelt .... 38 449 Willkie 10 82 The Democrats have gained 22 seats in the House of Representatives, making the party representation:— Democrats 275 Republicans 156 Progressives 3 Labour 1 It is indicated that the final line-up in the Senate will be: — Democrats 66 Republicans 27 Progressive ■ 1 Independent 2 The people of Washington today gave President Roosevelt a rousing reception when he returned from New York. At the station, the President told the crowd how happy Mrs Roosevelt and he Were “to be back for a little bit longer,” as he put it.
