The New South Wales ControllerGeneral of Canteens, Mr E. W. Holden, brings this story back from Egypt:—An Australian brigadier walked into the lounge of an Alexandria Hotel, looking hot and bothered. “It’s that Polish artillery unit I’m instructing,” he said, in response to sympathetic enquiries. “I’ve been three months learning their language. And what happens? The silly blighters don't understand it themselves!”
