“A STITCH IN TIME”
USEFUL HINTS. Mending Sheets.—Sheets are apt to wear first at the corners whefe they are pegged up to dry. A quick mending method is to bind oi’ face the frayed edges with wide white tape, which is strong and has ready-finished edges that need no turning in. Rug Repairs.—A carpet or rug edge near a doorway, where the tread is frequent, often frays away. It’s quite easy to bind the shabby part with carpet braid matching as nearly as possible. Double this over the worn edge and stab-stitch it in place (both edges at once) using a cax-pet needle and waxed carpet thread. Towel First-aid. — When Turkish towels wear along the selvedge edges fold in single turns wide enough to give an unworn fold and herringbone the worn edges down to the towel.
