ITALIAN U-BOAT
HUNTED INTO TANGIER BY BRITISH DESTROYERS & PLANES. ’ INTERNMENT DEMANDED. <By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.15 p.m.) LONDON, November 4. A large Italian submarine which sheltered at Tangier was chased there by British destroyers and planes. It is authoritatively stated in London that the Spanish Resident-General is expected to do his duty in ordering the internment after 24 hours. Otherwise it will be a breach of neutrality.
TWO DESTROYED BY LIGHT NAVAL FORCES. R.A.F. HELPS IN HUNT IN ONE CASE. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.48 a.m.) RUGBY, November 4. “Two more Italian U-boats have been destroyed by our light forces,” states an official Admiralty communique. “'The hunt in one case was carried out in co-operation with the R.A.F.” Twenty-nine Italian submarines, the 8.8. C. states, have now been sent to the bottom, representing about onequarter of Italy’s total submarine strength.
