SOLWAY RAINFALL. RECORD FOR OCTOBER. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that rain was measured at Solway on 13 days in October. The maximum fall was 69 points on October 19, and the minimum 1 point on the 3rd and 12th. The total for the month was 3.65 inches, as against 1.35 (1939), 1.45 (1938), 2.08 (1937), 3.31 (1936), 4.54 (1935). The average for 37 years is 3.43 inches. The total rainfall for the ten months is 30.54 inches, as compared with 25.46 (1939), 39.44 (1938), 29.17 (1937), 38.29 (1936), 39.84 (1935). The average for 37 years is 33.46 inches.
Miss A. M. Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today:— Barograph, 29.81; shade temperature, maximum 60.3,- minimum 48.8; terrestrial, 48.5; sunshine, nil; rain, 17 points. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that 21 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today.
