The Hon. P. C. Webb, Minister of Labour, returned to Wellington today from the South Island.

The Rev. J. L. Gray, of the New Zealand Presbyterian Mission in the Punjab, is expected in New Zealand before Christmas on furlough.

Mr S. Taylor, of the Masterton Post Office staff, who has been spending his annual leave on a visit North, has resumed his duties.

The Hon. VI. Nash, Minister of Finance, will leave Wellington for Auckland by the Limited express tomorrow night. He expects to return to Wellington on Friday. The Hon. F. Langstone, Minister of Native Affairs, will leave Wellington for the North Auckland district by the express this afternoon. He expects to return to Wellington toward the end of the week.

Mr J. G. Hanaghan, Placement Officer, relinquished his duties at Masterton yesterday. Prior to his leaving he was met by the staff of the Social Security Department on whose behalf the Registrar (Mr J. L. L. Wood) presented Mr Hanaghan with a fountain pen. He made eulogistic references to Mr Hanaghan’s capabilities as an officer of the Department and wished him every success in his new sphere. Mr Hanaghan suitably replied. Mr J. Reid has been appointed as successor to Mr Hanaghan. Members of the Masterton Municipal Band on Thursday night met to bid farewell to one of their number, Gunner L. C. T. Adams. Band Corporal R. F. Davies, in making a presentation to Gunner Adams of an engraved cigarette case, expressed the thanks of the band to Gunner Adams for the help he had always willingly given. He wished him a safe return to New Zealand and to the ranks of the band. Mr G. W. Hutchinson iconductor' spoke in a similar strain after which the toast of the health of Gunner Adams was honoured. Gunner Adams suitably replied.
