Auckland yachtsmen who have been able to derive some quiet amusement from the plight of the motor-boat owners over the petrol allowance now find that they are not altogether immune from the Supply Control Emeigency Regulations. Certain commodities required in the fitting out of sailing boats have been placed under control by the Government, as one boat owner has found. He wished to purchase a small ball of hempen yacht marlin, valued at about two shillings, and was told he would have to fill in an application form stating the work for which-it was required, and giving an assurance that no substitute material' was available. This application, after being passed by the Customs Department, would be sent to the Minister for Supply for his consideration.
