STOCK MARKET

. EKETAHUNA CATTLE FAIR. INCREASE IN PRICES. Messrs Dalgety and Co. Ltd. (Inc. in England) report on their second Eketahuna cattle fair as follows:—Our entry came forward in excess of advertised numbers, and the yarding capacity was taxed to the utmost. We had to yard the yearling cattle in the sheep pens. There was a good and representative attendance, buyers being present from Masterton, Manawatu, and as far north at Patea. Competition throughout was keen, and with the exception of one or two pens the quality of the cattle was not good. Prices were well up, and in some cases in excess of those ruling at late sales. There were no big bullocks yarded, the majority of the cattle being two year steers and female cattle. We report a good clearance. and the following prices will indicate values:—Light fat cows, £7 15s: fat cows ex dairy, £4 ss. £4 10s, £5 ss; 2-yr P.A. steers, account Bunny and Tredray. £7 2s; 2-yr steers, account Mrs A.
