MAN SHOT DEAD
1 FOLLOWING ON DISPUTE. INQUEST IN AUCKLAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) TAUMARUNUI. This Day. The inquest on Jeremiah O’Sullivan, who was killed at Manunui on September 22 by a rifle bullet in his head, was resumed this morning before the Coroner, Mr W. Thomas. Charles Ronald Longley, the 15-year-old-son of Charles Harold Longley, gave evidence that deceased came to the kitchen door and asked his mother why the battens deceased had nailed across the garage doorway had been removed. His mother said: "We put up that shed." Deceased .said: “You mongrel!" After that he heard a rifle shot and saw his father with a rifle in his hands, ■ at the door. His mother said: “You . shot him. I will have to go for the ; police." His father said: “No. I will go.” A sister, aged twelve, corroborated j the evidence.
