DESTROYED BY FIRE
> PLANT RESEARCH STATION AT MASSEY COLLEGE VALUABLE EQUIPMENT LOST. WITH IRREPLACEABLE RECORDS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH. This Day. A disastrous blaze, resulting in the loss of thousands of pounds worth of valuable scientific equipment and many records which are irreplaceable, occurred at one o’clock this morning, when the Plant Research Station at Massey College was destroyed. The station was a wooden building, opened three years ago. The Fire Brigade was hampered by the absence of hydrants ■for its hoses and had to pump water from a nearby stream.
