The “Asahi Shimbun’s” 'correspondent at San Francisco states that the returning Ambassador, Mr Horinouchi, asserted that he had heard reports that an Anglo-Am-erican agreement in principle had been reached for the joint use of the Singapore naval base and would be announced at a suitable time. He said he believed there was still room for a readjustment of Japanese and American relations, for which reason he intended to discuss, the matter with the Foreign Minister, Mr Matsuoka, upon his return.
