Baird, Cole Street, Masterton. is staying with her mother, Mrs A. G. Pilmer, Island Bay, Wellington. Mrs M. A. Tildesley. who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs J. F. Pointon, Fendalton, Christchurch, has returned to her home, Essex Street, Masterton.

Misses S. Carle and J. Millard, of Wellington, are spending the weekend in Masterton and are the guests of the former's mother. Mrs R. Latham, Miriam Street. Miss M. F. Barnett, Matron of the Masterton Hospital, has been appointed chairwoman of the North Island Committee of the V.A.D. Council and Miss M. of the Masterton Hospital Board stall lias been appointed secretary.

A long residence in New Zealand was brought to an end with the death of Mrs Norah Averill, wife of Mr Edward Averill, Echills, Kereru. She was born in Canada in 18C8 and came to New Zealand as a child with her parents. After her marriage she lived in the Waikato with her husband, who managed a large station on behalf of the Assets and Realisation Board. Later Mr and Mrs Averill went to Hawke’s Bay, where Mr Averill was appointed to control Mangatoro Station. Then in 1915 came the final change of residence, when Mr Averill took over the management of Olrig Station and also acquired a large sheepfarm of his own.
