FEILDING SALE. DOWNWARD TREND OF VALUES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, October 25. The market was quiet in all sections at the Feilding Stock sale today, values generally showing a downward trend. The continued absence of a soaking rainfall again reacted unfavourably on the cattle market, where sales were below last week’s figures. Extra prime lines of mutton held firm on late rates, but in all cases where there was lack of finish prices were down. Extra prime hoggets made 30s. 4d. to 30s. 7d., prime 255. 4d. to 275. 4d., unfinished 19s. Id. to 245. 10d.; extra prime wethers 275. lOd. to 295. 10d., prime 245. lOd. to 265. 9d., light 225. to 245. 6d.; prime woolly wethers 255. 4d.; extra prime ewes, 245. lOd. to 265. 4d., prime 225. to 245. 4d., unfinished 17s. Id. to 21s. 9d. In the store sheep section a fairly good assortment of ewe hoggets made an appeal to buyers, but there was little change in rates for all other sheep. Late rates were paid for milkers and dairy stock nearing profit, but backward sorts were not wanted. Top quality beef maintained a fairly steady level of values, the offering generally being in nice even finish. STRONG DEMAND FOR CATTLE Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report as follows: —We held our usual weekly sale at Carterton yesterday, when a fairly big offering was submitted to a good attendance. Fat sheep were easier in price, especially shorn ewes. Fat and forward cattle met with a strong demand and prices were up to late rates. Springing cows and heifers were easier but the quality was not very high. Pigs sold at late rates. Loon end A'’on''v Co Ltd., report on the Eketahuna sale as uJluws: —A good entry of sheep, dairy cattle and bulls was submitted to a satisfactory attendance of buyers. Included in the entry of sheep was the complete flock on account of Mr. A. Olsen, who has sold his farm, and these attracted keen competition. There was also a keen demand for bulls, prices for all animals of good class being very satisfactory. Following is the range of prices:—Account A.
