PERSONAL ITEMS (“Times-Age” Special.) Private G. S. George is visiting Carterton. Mr and Mrs E. Mellisham, of Levin, are visitors to Carterton. Mr J. Paaske, of Auckland, is a visitor to Carter ton. Post Office Arrangements. On Monday next, the Post Office will be closed in all branches with the exception of the telephone exchange, ;■ vVhich will be open continuously. Lo- • cal and rural deliveries will not be * made. The Post Office will be open tonight between the hours of 7 and 3 o’clock for postal and telegraphic business and for the delivery of correspondence over the counter. Bank Holiday. Monday next being Labour Day, the local banks will be closed. They will also be'closed all day on October 31, “People's Day,” of the Wairarapa Show. Parcel Evening. Tonight at the Parkvale Hall a dance will be given in honour of Mrs L. Mead (nee Miss Ila Booth) who was recently married. Mrs Mead, who was born and educated in the Parkvale district is well known to all residents. Dance at Dalefield. The Dalefield Hall Committee has decided to hold a dance in the hall on Monday night, the proceeds of which will be devoted- to the renovation of the hall. Good music and an excellent . floor are assured, and the usual firstclass supper will be provided. Woman Injures Hand. Mrs Copeland, of Victoria Street, last evening suffered a severe injury to a hand while following her employment. She was tipping some rubbish into an incenerator, when the heavy lid of the latter slipped 'and doubled the hand back. She was attended by Dr. R. N. Campbell. It is not certain if any bones are broken. Mrs Copeland went to Masterton Hospital this morning to have the hand
