The Prime Minister, the Rt Hon P. Fraser, will return to Wellington from Christchurch tomorrow.
The Rev Angus McKenzie. Tauranga, has been,, appointed minister of the Presbyterian Church at Morrinsville. The Hon Adam Hamilton, Leader of the Opposition, travelled south from Wellington last night by the steamer express.
Arrangements are being made for a deputation of citizens to wait upon Mr T. C. A. Hislop, Mayor of Wellington, with the request that he should again offer himself for the office of mayor. Mr Hislop has now held the office since 1931, a record in the history of the Wellington municipality. The death occurred in Levin this week of Mr Ernest Samuel Lancaster at the age of 72. A member of a family that has done much to maintain and improve the Jersey herds of New Zealand. Mr Lancaster lived in the Levin district for more than 50 years. Mr Lancaster was a member of the Levin Borough Council in the days when the borough initiated a high pressure water scheme and municipal gas works.
