ACTION IN INDO-CHINA
TROOPS SENT TO THAILAND BORDER GUNBOATS AND SUBMARINES PATROLLING COAST. ACCORDING' TO JAPANESE REPORTS. According to semi-official Japanese sources here, the French Indo-China authorities have dispatched nearly a thousand troops to an area near the south-eastern border of Thailand. The forces are said to be digging trenches and building barricades. A fleet of three gunboats, five tor-pedo-boats and several submarines is patrolling the Thailand coast. ALLEGED ATTACK ATTEMPT TO KILL ADMIRAL . DECOUX. (Received This Day, 11.50 a.m.) TOKIO, October 24. Despatches from Bangkok quote newspapers as reporting that ViceAdmiral Decoux, Governor-General of Indo-China, was attacked by a young French officer, who fired a pistol at Admiral Decoux, but missed.
