MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. OFFICERS FOR ENSUING YEAR. At the monthly meeting of the Management Committee of the Methodist Children’s Home held at the Home, the chairman, Mr. J. H. Handyside, presided over an attendance of the following members: Messrs F. E. Wells, W. R. Nicol, G. F. Whitlock, J. A. Wellington, the Rev. H. S. Kings, Miss Burton, Mesdames Cocker, Kings and Daniell. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs. W, H. Judd, A, H. Daniell and Mrs. Elliott. The chairman expressed his pleasure in welcoming Mrs. Cocker back to the meeting after her absence. On account of military duties, Mr. J. H. Conly was granted leave of absence for six months. It was decided to fall into line with other institutions in the town by giving assistance and lending the Home to the Emergency Precautions Committee in the event of their requiring use of it for a soup kitchen. The matron reported all well with the Home. Three children from Hastings had been admitted, making a total of 35 children. The tentative date for the Break-up Festival was set down as Thursday, December 12. The financial statement for September was presented and adopted, and accounts amounting to £lO9 14s. Bd. were passed. Subsequent to the termination of business, the annual meeting was held, when the financial statement for the year ended September 30, also balance sheet as at same date, was presented and adopted. Notice of his resignation as from December 31, 1940, was received from Mr. J. A. Donald, who has been a member of the management committee for a number of years. It was decided to record appreciation of the services rendered to the committee by Mr. Donald during his membership. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted in Mr. F. E. Wells being elected to the chairmanship, with Mr. J. H. Handyside as vicechairman; secretary-manager, Mi- W. R. Nicol; assistant secretary, Mr J. A. Wellington; admission committee, the chairman and Dr. N. H. Prior; grounds and building committee, Messrs. W. H. Judd and A. H. Daniell; ladies’ committee, the lady members of the management committee. Thanks were expressed to the Wairarapa Times-Age for its consideration and help during the past year. Receipt of the following gifts was acknowledged:—Mrs. Elliott, vegetables; Mr W. C. Taylor, two sacks potatoes; Mr. Hopkins, lettuce plants; Mrs. Lochore, plants; Girls’ Life Brigade. cakes and sandwiches; Mr. Clift, Havelock North, two cases apples; Mr. R. H. Anker, two cases apples; Mrs. Morgan, eggs; Mrs Nicol. Jam; Masterton Orchestral Society, invitation tc concert.
