AIR FORCE RECRUITING
PROGRESS IN AUSTRALIA. With 10.294 pilots, air observers and wireless air gunners accepted for service at September 28, and 2 736 then in training. Australia is making steady R.A.A.F progress. Ground staff accepted at the same date number 24.455, which brought the total to 34,749 men accepted for AnForce service since the outbreak of war. Of the ground staff. 19.485 were in training, or had been trained, at that time. "The R.A.A.F. squadrons now stationed in British Malaya will be kept up to strength.” the Minister for Air (Mr Fadden) has stated. “As these squadrons have proceeded from Australia to replace R.A.F. units which have been transferred elsewhere, it is our responsibility to maintain their strength. Mr Fadden added. "Consequently, any deficiencies which may occur from time to time will be remedied by despatching more men or aircraft.”
