A young Marlborough farmer, who is now in khaki as a member of the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force, has taken no chances on the war being a short one. During the three weeks before he was called up for camp he scoured the hillside portions of his parents’ farm for firewood. The result was a mountain of split Jogs estimated at five years’ supply and enough, the soldier hopes, to last until he comes home again.
