CHALLENGE TO EVIL

MIGHT OF THE ROYAL AIR FORCE GREAT VICTORIES ACHIEVED. MANY OVERSEAS AND FOREIGN PILOTS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.50 p.m.) CAPETOWN, October 23. Captain Balfour (Under-Secretary for Air), in a speech, said: “Never has a force proved to be a greater challenge to the powers of Nazi evil than the R.A.F. Never has there been a force with stronger claims to be an Overseas Force. Twenty per cent of the pilots were from the Dominions before the war. Today the proportion is higher. The first Eagle Squadron, of volunteers from the United States, was recently formed. Our squadrons daily fight alongside Polish, Czech and Free French forces. The R.A.F. in the past two months has achieved great victories.”
