The final sitting' of the Medical Board for the examination of the men called up for Territorial service in the first conscription ballot will be held in the Masterton Drill Hall on Friday. Home Damaged By Bombs. The home in Oxford. England, of Mrs Charles Smith, formerly of Te Ore Ore. Masterton. was damaged by bombs during a recent raid on the university town by German planes. Mrs Smith and her daughters. Misses E. and D. Smith, escaped unhurt. Support for War Effort. Support for the Government's war effort and 'the Public Safety Emergency Regulations as recently amended to deal with subversion was overwhelmingly given at a special meeting of the Wellington Builders' and General Labourers' Union held in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall last night. More than 500 members attended and. it was stated, this was one of the largest attendances of such meetings of unions of this description. This was the first opportunity the union had had of considering the regulations as it was not represented at the recent meeting held by the building trades in Wellington when the regulations were condemned. The general secretary of the Wellington Builders and General Labourers' Union. Mr P. M. Butler, stated last night that the meeting of the building trades unions referred to was] attended by only 104 members of the] various unions concerned, though the] combined membership was more than 4000. 1
