STOCK MARKET
FEUDING SALE YOUNG CATTLE EASIER IN PRICE (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING. October 18. The supplemental’}' cattle fair at Feilding today produced a large entry of about 4000 head of fair to good class stock, but the demand was not quite up to that of the main fair a fortnight ago. The absence of rain and lack of cattle feed in parts of the district had an influence on the sale, which, though quite satisfactory in the circumstances, would have been greatly improved by good rain the day before. Adult cattle sold at about the same level in the case of extra good lines, but the demand for backward sorts was not keen. Young cattle were also a little easier in price. Mutton prices were steady at late rates, a good demand again being shown for prime hoggets. Extra prime wethers brought 30s. to 30s. 10d.. prime 265. Id. to 28s. 10d„ unfinished 19s. lOd. to 225. 4d.; extra prime ewes 265. lOd. to 28s. 10d., prime 235. 9d. to 255. 9d., light 14s. lOd. to 225. 6d; extra prime hoggets, 2s. 7d. to 31s. 3d., prime 255. 4d„ to 28s. 10d., light, 225. 3d., to 245. 9d. A light entry of store sheep, mainly ewe and wether hoggets, sold comparatively well. Dairy cows in milk sold well, but only select quality springing dairy heifers and cows were wanted. Good cows in milk made £lO to £l2 10s., others £5 2s. 6d. to £7 155.; best springing cows, £ll to £l2, backward £5 10s„ to £7 55.; best springing heifers £9 to £ll 155., others £5 to £6 15s. Some very good quality ox and female beef was yarded, and though the demand was sufficient to absorb the rather large entry values were a shade easier. Pigs had another good sale, prices being high. Good weaners made 17s. to 20s. 6d; slips 225. 6d. to 275. 6d.; stores 295. 6d. to 355.
