POWER BOARD ' MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age" Special.) Practically the whole of the business at the monthly meeting of the Tararua Electric Power Board held yesterday was discussed in committee. Those present were Messrs P. Davies (chair), L. Johnson. C. T. Richardson. S. K. Siddells, E. W. Cheetham, A. Bissett, T. Fouhy, J. G. Brechin, J. B. Carruthers and W. Britland. Leave of absence was granted Mr W. Simpson. Accounts amounting to £8403 4s 4d were passed. The Secretary-Manager (Mr W. F. Taylor) reported as follows: There is a lively increasing demand for electricity and appliances throughout the district. Amongst the installations recorded are the following: 13 ranges and stovettes, 17 water heaters, 27 motors (mostly of fractional horse power). Electrical energy purchased from the Government during the quarter amounted to £3004. This is an increase of 4.16 per cent on the highest quarterly account previously recorded. There is evidence of a corresponding increase in sales for the period which is referred to comparatively below. Inspector McGregor reports having installed the 79th range in his district where he hopes to make range installations amount to 60.3 per cent of the total number of consumers. The percentage of water heater installations to the number of consumers is 38.1. This is encouraging to the advocates of the Akitio County Reticulation Scheme. Cash received in connection with the Power Fund account for September was £3970 13s Id. The sales of electricity for the quarter amounted to £9490 an increase of £943. The total sales for the six months ended September 30 were £17,360 16s 9d. The Engineer (Mr D. Fraser) reported inter alia as follows: The connected load for September was as follows: — Eketahuna Borough 8.770 k.v.a.; Eketahuna County, 49.406 k.v.a.; Pahiatua Borough, 25.644 k.v.a.; Pahiatua County, 66.392 k.v.a.; Akitio County, 3.020 k.v.a.; total, 153,232 k.v.a. Inspections and tests: New installations, Eketahuna 5, Pahiatua 9; extensions, 20, 19; reinspections, 8, 23. Service lines: Eketahuna, new, 1; alterations, 'll. Pahiatua, new, 6; alterations, 17. Eketahuna area: Alterations and maintenance was carried out on the low tension lines at Mangamaire and Nireaha, and tree cutting continued in the Rongomai district. Two new services were run and alterations made to eleve'n of the existing ones. Work was continued on the overhaul of the sub-stations. The Mauriceville sub-station was completed, and a start made on the alterations at Hukanui. The fault position generally shov/s the benefit received from the increased maintenance, and the clearing of trees, which has greatly contributed to the continuity of supply to consumers. The demand for power has shown a steady increase. Pahiatua area: Seventeen of the existing services have been reconstructed, and six new services run. The units registered at the Government sub-station, Mangamaire for the six months ended September 30, showed an increase of 17.55 per cent over the same period last year. TENNIS CLUB ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS. There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Eketahuna Tennis Club held in the Fire Station on Thursday night, when Mr H. E. Greathead presided. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted without discussion. In moving their adoption the president briefly reviewed the activities during the past season. The following new members were elected: —Misses M. Capes, E. Waterreus, Messrs R. Waterreus, D. King, B. Anderson and F. Horner. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron, Mr V. Wimsett (reelected); president, Mr H. E. Greathead (re-elected); vice-presidents, Messrs R. Dickson, D. Fraser Senr., L. Christie; secretaiy, Mr D. King; club captain, Mr D. King; ladies' captain, Miss N. Greathead; vice-captain, Mr D. Fraser Junr.; committee, Messrs R. Waterreus, and F. Horner, Misses W. Dickson, K. Herbert, B. Fraser, and P. O’Regan. The fixing of a date for the opening of the season was left in the hands of the incoming committee. Il was resolved that junior members should be under the control of the club captain and vice-captain. The subscriptions were fixed as follows: —Men, 22s 6d; ladies, 15s; to be subject to a refund of 5s in each case if paid within the period allowed. Votes of thanks to the chairman and the Press concluded the meeting. Personal. Mr G. Stone-Wigg, of Wanganui, is visiting Eketahuna. WEDDING GOSS—DAVIDSON. A very pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Cuthbert’s Church recently when Catherine Allon. youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Davidson. Nireaha, was married to Lloyd Ernest William, elder son of Mr C. E. S. Goss, of Nireaha. The Rev. L. Ives officiated and Miss M. Wilson presided at the organ. During the signing of the register Miss Wilson sang "O Perfect Love.” The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked charming in a gown of white lace over satin, the frock being cut on, slimming lines, featuring a heart-shaped neck. The sleeves were wrist length and tight fitting.. The skirt fell in graceful folds and was slightly trained. The beautifully embroidered veil, kindly lent by Mrs M. Spring, formed a long train and was held in place by a miniature halo of arum lilies. She carried a shower bouquet of I

arum lilies, freesias and maidenhair fern. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a silver horseshoe by her niece, Barbara Davidson. The bridesmaids, Miss Jean Goss (cousin of the bridegroom) and Miss Greta Taylor (Wellington), wore frocks of apple green floral satin, similar to that of the bride. Pink halos and mittens were worn and they carried bouquets of tulips, freesias and maidenhair fern. Mr Bruce Davidson was best man and Mr Arnold Goss groomsman. At the reception, Mrs Davidson, assisted by Mrs Goss, received the guests. Mrs Davidson wore a smart wine wool georgette frock, fox fur and a shoulder spray to tone. Mrs Goss was attired in a navy floral frock, with navy accessories and wore a shoulder spray of freesias. Tiic beautiful three-tiered cake, was the subject of much admiration and was the gift of Mr W. Tinsley, of Kaitaia. North Auckland. When Mr and Mrs Goss left by car for the north on their honeymoon, the bride wore a cyclamen frock, black leghorn straw hat, and carried a cyclamen coat, with black accessories IO match. Mr and Mrs Goss's future home will' be in Nireaha.
