ROYAL AIR FORCE OFFENSIVE Fifty-two Enemy Objectives Bombed During Ten Days DESTRUCTIVE ATTACKS ON BASES, STORES AND COMMUNICATIONS EXPLOSIONS AND FIRES IN GREAT OIL PLANT During’ the ten days from October 5 to October 15 the R.A.F. attacked 52 different places in Germany, the main attacks being on German oil stores, ports and railway communications, a 8.8. C. broadcast observes. On Wednesday night, a synthetic oil plant north-east of Leipzig was bombed, explosions and two large fires indicating the success of the attack. Coastal Command aircraft attacked the power station at the German-occu-pied naval base at Brest. Considerable damage was done. The naval dockyard at Kiel was also attacked on Wednesday night and extensive fires were started. Other docks at Bremen, Cuxhaven and Hamburg were bombed, besides various munition factories and power stations in Germany. Raiding Formations SPLIT UP BY BRITISH FIGHTERS NUMBER OF NAZI BOMBERS SHOT DOWN German planes, mostly fighters, made several attacks on South-East England yesterday. On each occasion the formations were engaged by British fighters and split up. Very few of the raiders managed to reach London. A few bombs were dropped, but the damage and casualties were not heavy. Bombs were also dropped on coast towns in Kent and at other places in South-East England with little effect. One of these places ' was Canterbury, where several bombs were dropped near Canterbury Cathedral. Some damage was done to the Deanery, but the cathedral itself suffered no damage. Three German raiders were destroyed during yesterday and one British plane is missing. On Wednesday night four enemy bombers were destroyed.
