REGENT THEATRE

‘•THE MAN FROM DAKOTA.” A new screen team comprising Wallace Beery, popular comedian-heavy; Dolores Del Rio, vibrant Latin-Ameri-can actress; and John Howard, rapidly advancing young leading man, makes its bow in “The Man From Dakota,” which will be shown tonight at the Regent Theatre. As a Yankee prisoner of war who escapes . the Confederate prison camp at Belle Isle, Beery plays a typical action-filled role, encountering one melodramatic predicament after another with his two companions. Miss Del Rio portrays a Russian girl who becomes a fugitive after shooting a Confederate officer, her former fiancee. Howard appears as Beery’s young and idealistic superior officer, who escapes with him. Heading the supporting cast are such noted character actors as Donald Meek, forsaking comedy for villainy; Robert Barrat, Addison Richards, Frederick Burton, William Haade and John Wray. Outstanding supporting featurettes include the latest Air Mail Newsreel, a bright Pete Smith number, another of the outstanding Passing Parade series, a laughable Robert Benchley cameo and a gorgeous all-colour cartoon. The plans are at Messrs Steele and Bull’s shop and the theatre.
