ANOTHER BALLOT
FOR TERRITORIAL SERVICE TO BE CONDUCTED SHORTLY. ACCORDING TO AUCKLAND OFFICER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Owing to the fact that the ballot held recently, to fill vacancies in the Territorial forces, produced an insufficient number of men, a second ballot, of similar nature, is to be held on a Do-minion-wide basis, a military officer' stated today. Neither the date nor the number of men to be drawn is yet available. WAIRARAPA APPEALS ’ LODGED BY ABOUT HALF NUMBER DRAWN. About 120 appeals against service in the Territorials have been lodged by men in the Wairarapa district drawn in the recent ballot. This is about half the number of men drawn in the district. Actually, the number of appeals to be heard by the district Man Power Committee will be much smaller, as many of those who are appealing will be excluded on account of medical unfitness. So far no date has been set down for the hearings. It is not likely that the first meeting will be held before the medical examinations are completed. It is understood that sittings will probably be held at various centres in the Wairarapa. • .
