DENIED IN EIRE
SUPPLY OF OIL TO GERMAN U=BOATS„ STATEMENT BY ULSTER M.P. CHALLENGED. SAID TO BE ENTIRELY UNFOUNDED. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) LONDON, October 13. It is authoritatively stated in Dublin that the statement by Mi- James Little yesterday was entirely without foundation. . It is stated that petrol can be obtained in Eire only by coupons, and a transport system would be necessary if petrol were conveyed in large quantities to any part of Ireland. Mr James Little, member of Parliament for County Down, at a meeting in Belfast, said that when the Eire Government was asked about supplying petrol to U-boats its reply was “that it had no knowledge of the matter.” “That was putting the glass to a blind eye with a vengeance,” said MiLittle. “Here we had a British Dominion selling its petrol and oil to enable German submarines to sink British ships. There is nowhere else Germany could get petrol on the west coast of Ireland.”
