DIAMOND JUBILEE
KURIPUNI METHODIST CHURCH. ' WEEKEND CELEBRATIONS. Special services commemorating the diamond jubilee of the Kuripuni Methodist Church were held in Masterton over the weekend. There were record attendances at all services. The annual reunion of Sunday school I students was held on Saturday night, the hall being packed. Visitors were present from Wanganui, Hamilton, Wellington, Pahiatua and Eketahuna. The Rev. H. S. Kings was in the chair. The following contributed items to the musical programme: Miss O’Hara and Mrs Leadley (recitations), Mrs Speight and Miss D. Jamieson (songs), and Messrs Barnes,. Jones, Vogie, Pahiatua, Henry Jones (vocal items). Interesting talks were given by Mr F. C. Daniell (a pupil in 1882), and Messrs Shute and Vogie (pupils in 1900). Pride of place on the laden supper tables was taken by a jubilee cake presented by Mrs Blundell. On Sunday morning the preacher : was the Rev G. Knowles Smith, an ex-1 president of the Methodist Conference. | A jubilee choir of 80 voices, under the leadership of Mr W. Davies, provided much appreciated items. In the afternoon a musical service was held, the Rev H. S. Kings presiding. Items were given by a number of small children, * under the leadership of Miss McKenzie. a teacher at the Sunday School with 30 years continuous service to her credit. The Rev J. Ainsley Da glish, of Carterton, was the preacher at the evening service, when there was another large attendance. Items were given by the : choir. Miss Burton presided at the organ and Miss Valmai Davies at the ; piano. Those who were present at the ser- i vices commented on the pleasant nat- : ure of the celebrations.
