Fifty candidates of the 156 who stood for the Federal election in New South Wales lose their £25 deposits, aggregating £1250. It is noteworthy that the whole of Federal Treasurer Spender's four opponents in the Warringah electorate lost their deposits. The Senate count is not yet complete, but it can be stated that nine of the 21 candidates in New South Wales will lose their deposits. The soldiers' votes from Palestine.arrived yesterday and the votes from the Australian troops in England are expected shortly after which there will immediately begin a distribution of the preference votes for the Senate. - The only House of Representatives seat outstanding—Maranoa in Queensland—was completed today and as expected has neen won by the Official Labour candidate (Mr F. Baker) whose majority over the Country Party candidate (Mr R. McGeoch) was 1609, giving Labour 35 seats and the Government parties 36 seats. Labour, howexer, expects to win the Kalgoorlie seat rendered vacant by the death of Mr A. Green. The parties will thus each be 36 with two independents.
