OTHER PEOPLE’S IDEAS

THE PARK CUSTODIAN tl (To the Editor.) * Sii'. —Now we have at last heard the true facts re the Custodian of the Park. n I feel sure every fair-minded citizen e will be astounded at the treatment meted out to Mr Sturgeon. The Park is 1 a credit to this man's skill and I feel sure the council must have been saved _ pounds through his enterprise in raiss ing all the plants. The Begonia House is, to say the least, a marvel of loveliness. Surely, when the Park Committee found the fault was on their side they would have retired gracefully, and offered their apologies to Mr Sturgeon. It will be many a long day, if ever, before we have another man like Mr Sturgeon in charge of our Park. It is the envy and admiration of hundreds of visitors to our town. It appears to me that they should be employing more men instead of dispensing with a valuable man. Take, for instance, the Mawley Park. The lawns 1 are knee high. It has the appearance of a wilderness instead of a park. Why ■ ■ not have something done about this? I t No one appears to take any interest in ! ■ the place. Are they at loggerheads I ■ with the custodian here too? Why can’t! • the council put a man on here on full- ■ • time wages, and use him elsewhere in I ' the slack season. It certainly will be | an eyesore to the campers who will be I arriving shortly. Come on. all you ■' lovers of justice. let us have a petition to have Mr Sturgeon reinstated. His boy is offering his life for us; let us help his parents.—l am etc. JUSTICE. Masterton, October 12. MILK FEVER (To the Editor) 1 Sir. —In Wednesday’s "Times-Age” a correspondent, H. G. S. declares that milk fever in cows is preventable. May I point out that if H. G. S. lays his marvellous knowledge before the farmers or the Agricultural Department, the benefit to his country and his banking account will be enormous. Frankly, I believe he is one of those theorists who hardly knows one end of a cow from the other. —Yours, etc.. "COCKY." - Masterton, October 12.
