ORCHESTRAL CONCERT
PERFORMANCE NEXT WEDNESDAY / The concerts of the Masterton Orchestral Society are events which are looked forward to by music lovers. Next Wednesday evening there is to be another of these music-makings, when a most attractive programme is to be presented. The overture, “Orpheus in the Underworld,” is sure to please, as it is by Offenbach, a composer who deliberately set himself to write music that was tuneful and beautiful. A splendid selection from “The Damnation of Faust,” by Berlioz, is another attractive number; and the “Hyde Park” suite is bound to be received with enthusiasm. Many other works of a light and tuneful nature will be included. Mr R. G. Gilbert, a favourite Masterton singer will appear, and an acceptable novelty will be a quartette of men’s voices. Altogether, this concert promises to be one of the most attractive ever offered by the society. The plan is now open at the Arts and Crafts and seats may be booked free of charge. Student parties are catered for.
