LAWN TENNIS
MASTERTON PARK CLUB ANNUAL MEETING LAST NIGHT. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The president, Mr L. S. Nicol, presided over a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Masterton Park Lawn Tennis Club held in Masterton last night. Prior to the commencement of business those present stood in silence as a mark of respect to the memory of the late Leading-Aircraftsman E. Denbee, an esteemed member of the club. In moving the adoption of the report (published in the "Times-Age” recently) the president referred to the successful .year the club had experienced and stated that indications were for an even better time during the coming season. It was decided to open the season with a Yankee tournament on Saturday, October 26. Twenty-two new members were elected.
It was-decided that the subscriptions, be the same as last year. The election of officers resulted as follow: —Patron. Mr T. Jordan; president, Mr L. S. Nicol; vice-presidents, Messrs G. Joy, F. Mills, F. Knowles, A. M. Sanson, G. T. O’Hara Smith, W.. Batty, A. Dixon; secretary-treasurer, Mr S. D. Charleson; auditor, Miss Selby; club captain, Mr L. Morgan; de-puty-captain, Mr R. McEwen; delegates to the Wairarapa Lawn Tennis Association, Mr McEwen and Miss B. Martell; handicappers, Misses Martell, J. Bannister and Mr L. Morgan; ladder steward, Mr N. O’Kane; committee, Mrs Groves. Misses Bennington, J. Thornton, Messrs N. O’Kane, E. Handyside, and other officers ex officio.
