AMERICANS IN JAPAN AND OTHER PARTS OF ORIENT State Department Intimation NOTIFICATION TO CONSULS CONTINUATION OF PRECAUTIONARY POLICY I (By Telegraph. —Press Association. Copyright.) (Received This Day, 9.10 a.m.) WASHINGTON, October 8. The State Department has confirmed the Far Eastern evacuation advice and said American consuls in Japan, China and other parts of the Orient had been notified to suggest to American citizens the advisability of utilising the transportation facilities now available, this being in continuation of the precautionary policy regarding the safety of American citizens in various parts of the world. Confirmation has been received from Washington, the B B.C. states, that American Consulates throughout the Far East have advised all Americans to return home from Manehukuo, China, Japan, Indo-China and Hong Kong. About 9,000 Americans are said to be concerned, including women .and children and men not engaged in any essential work.
