WRESTLING
BRITISH EMPIRE TITLE. RETAINED BY McCREADY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Once again the British Empire wrestling title was contested in Wellington last night, when the holder. Earl McCready, retained it by holding John Katan to a draw, one fall each. Katan had the better of the last round, but as a championship bout cannot be decided on points, McCready remained Empire champion. The bout, which was lively, was watched by a large crowd. McCready opened the scoring by a fall with a flying body-scissors and press in the third round; Katan made use of a novel toe-hold, with which he took a fall in the seventh, and in the last round he again shaped the hold and had McCready in trouble with it until the bell rang.
