GIRL GUIDES
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. GIFTS FOR MERCANTILE MARINE. The bi-monthly meeting of the Masterton Girl Guide Executive was held in the Lecture Room yesterday afternoon. There were present Mesdames A. W. McKenzie (in the chair), Hodder, Gaskfn, Parr, Prentice, Hunter, Heath, Lawson and Misses Allen and Ractliffe. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames C. H. McKenzie, Corskie, Ractlifl'e, Traynor and the secretary, Mrs. H. M. A. Major. Mrs. Hodder was appointed delegate to the Provincial Executive, and was also nominated as a vice-president of the Provincial Executive. Misses Allen and Ractliffe read the annual reports of the Tararua and Weraiti Guide Companies respectively and also gave an account of the work carried put during the last two months. An appeal was received from Dominion Headquarters for comforts to be sent as Christmas gifts from New Zealand Guides to the men of the Mercantile Marine. It was decided* that wool should be purchased for the Guides to knit into articles for this appeal. At the conclusion of the meeting Mrs McKenzie enrolled four new members.
