WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
KAITUNA-FERNRIDGE MEETING. COMPETITION WINNERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the KaiWomen’s Institute; held at Mrs 'G. Laing’s residence, "Fairview,” Upper Plain, Mrs J. Welch presided. The meeting opened with Aspirations, the Ode to Friendship and the prayer for peace. Miss Wolters, a member of the Dominion Executive, gave an instructive report on the council meeting held in Wellington. Afternoon tea was served after which Mrs JGnson gave an interesting account of her trip through America. The competition winners were: — Wholemeal shortbread: Mrs Keir, 1; Mrs J. Welch, 2. Flowers: Mrs Shaw, 1; Mrs Alan Keir, 2. The members then exchanged plants from their gardens, each bundle costing Id to exchange, the money thus raised to go to the Institute funds. The competitions for the next meeting will be: — eclairs and a saucer sand posy. The next meeting will be held at Mrs Chapman’s residence at Fernridge. The meeting closed with the singing of “God Save the King.”
