REGENT THEATRE
“THE ROAD TO SINGAPORE.” The final screening of this gay, witty tuneful “happiness” picture will take place this evening. Dorothy Lamour, Bing Crosby and Bob Hope are splendid in the leading roles. “THE INVISIBLE MAN RETURNS.” “The Invisible Man Returns,” Universal’s eerie shocker will be shown tomorrow at the Regent Theatre. This time in the person of Vincent Price, stage star with Helen Hayes in “Victoria Regina” and prominent film actor, the Invisible Man has newer and more startling tricks in the current production, thanks to Hollywood’s camera wizards. The unseen screen spectre does an invisible “strip tease and vanishes into nothing; he sits down to dinner and eats and drinks while clothed but headless; he dons a scarecrow's garb and the suit walks up a street “alone;” he bailies and scares his enemies by using the power of his invisibility to dramatic and, at times, comic effect. Sir Cedric Hardwicke, Nan Grey, John Sutton, Alan Napier and Cecil Kellaway are in the cast. Joe May directed with Ken Goldsmith as associate producer. The supporting subjects are exceptionally good, and include the latest Cinesound News, a new “Stranger than Fiction” number, a study of Nature s great handiwork, “Symphonies in Stone.” and a clever amusing cartoon. The plans are at Messrs Steele and Bull’s shop and the theatre.
