BEAU VITE’S VICTORY A SPECTACULAR PERFORMANCE. NOW MELBOURNE CUP FAVOURITE. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.25 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Commenting on the race for the Metropolitan Handicap the “Telegraph” says: “Beau Vite’s win was the most spectacular highweight performance since Laddie Blue scored with 10.7 in 1921. Making light of his welterweight Beau Vite dashed away at the start as though he was in a sprint race and won in a runaway fashion.” The “Herald” says: “New Zealandbred horses secured a notable triumph in winning the Epsom and Metropolitan double. Following Beau Vite’s win his owner, Mr R. Stewart, refused an offer of ten thousand guineas for the horse.” Beau Vite is now the clear-cut favourite for' the Melbourne Cup. The acceptances for the Craven Plate to be run at Randwick tomorrow are as follow:—Bourbon, St. Constant Mildura 9.4; Reading, Dashing Cavalier, High Caste, Beau Vite 9.0.
