IN CANADIAN WAR EFFORT TRAINING PROGRESS AHEAD OF PLANS. DEPUTY AIR MINISTER’S REVIEW. , (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 9.20 a.m.) TORONTO, October 7. The Deputy Air Minister, Mr Duncan, declared: “We have more men overseas, more men on home defence, more men training, more schools operating and more aerodromes constructed, than was envisaged in our original plans. We have been able in every way to increase our contribution to the common cause. Since the war began, over 3,00 ships, representing 17,000,000 tons, have left Canada and none have been lost while under Canadian protection on this side of the Atlantic.” AMERICAN TANKS FOUND USEFUL IN CANADA. (Received This Day, 9.20 a.m.) OTTAWA, October 7. The Defence Minister, Colonel J. L. Ralston, announced that 137 over-age American tanks had been delivered to Canada over the weekend. He said: “They will be very useful for training purposes. We certainly appreciate getting them.”
