MEMORIAL STONE
UNVEILED AT CHRISTCHURCH. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. A memorial stone commemorating Archbishop Julius was unveiled at Christchurch yesterday afternoon by the Governor-General, Lord Galway. The stone is set in the eastern wall of the Christchurch Cathedral. Lord Galway paid a notable tribute to Archbishop Julius and his work for the Church, the city and the people. An impressive service accompanied the unveiling ceremony. Those taking part included Archbishop West-Watson, the mayor, Mr Macfarlane, M.P., the Hon J. K. Archer, and Dean Julius, son of the archbishop. Mr Macfarlane said the extension of the chancel had been agreed on as a suitable memorial. The sum of £25,000 was aimed at. and £B2OO was in sight. Because of the war it had been decided that it would be unwise to continue the appeal.
