METHODIST CHURCH
LADIES’ GUILD. GRANDMOTHERS ENTERTAINED. The monthly meeting of the Masterton Methodist Ladies’ Guild was held at the residence of Mrs W. R Nicol when Mrs Hancox presided over a large attendance of members and friends. Grandmothers were the guests of the Guild. In a few words of welcome Mrs Hancox expressed pleasure at the presence of so many members to do honour to the guests. A floral token was presented to each grandmother. Apologies for absence were received from the following grandmothers: Mesdames Coradine, Hoar, Brown, Milne, Davis, Mannell, Jansen, Sutherland, ing and Willis. The Rev. H. Kings . referred to the great .part grandmothers had played in the life of the home and community. During the afternoon elocutionary items were given by Mrs Leadley and much appreciated. The happy thought for the month was given by Mrs Kings. A community sing, led by Miss Ivy Donald, was enjoyed by all, Mrs Dickson acting as accompaniste. Afternoon tea was provided, Mesdames Lindsay and Lyttle acting as hostesses. On behalf of the grandmothers, Mrs Nellie Miller thanked the ladies for their hospitality. Votes of thanks were accorded to Mesdames Nicol, Leadley, Dickson, Lindsay, Lyttle and Miss Ivy Donald.
