GREYTOWN

TRUST LANDS TRUST MONTHLY MEETING. ("Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Greytown Trust Lands Trust there were present Messrs F. Dennes (chairman), W. H. Day. H. G. Carter, H. J. Nightingale, A. H. York, and Mr J. Kiernan (secretary).' A vote of sympathy' was passed to the relatives of the late Mr H. T. Rees who had served as a member of the Trust for several years. A. letter was received from the secretary of the Greytown School Committee asking the Trust for a grant towards the construction of a new asphalt area. The Trustees decided to make a grant of £2O. The following accounts were passed for payment: —Land tax £6 3s 7d. repairs £l9 18, rates £ll7 8s Bd. The secretary was instructed to secure prices for painting a shop owned by the Trust. Mr H. J. Farley, chairman of the Memorial Park Committee, waited on the Trustees in order to come to some agreement regarding the upkeep of the playing area. After considerable discussion the Trustees decided to recommend to the Borough Council: (1) That the grant made by the Trust be expended in keeping the entrance, camping site and the area around the swings in good order; (2) that the playing area be let for grazing purposes during the period when it was not required for sport. Its was also suggested that the Park Advisory Committee be added to as several members had left the district, and that, the sports bodies. Trust Lands Trust and Returned Soldiers’ Association have representation on the committee. It was pointed out, that some effort should be made to increase the revenue from the Park. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs A. D. Burch, of Papawai, are spending the weekend at Pahiatua. Mr H. Bungate, manager of the Greytown Gasworks, returned to Greytown yesterday after a short visit to Waipawa.
