FAMOUS PAINTINGS

REPRODUCTIONS OF OLD AND MODERN WORKS. EXHIBITION OF CONTRAST COLLECTION. Much interest is being taken in the forthcoming exhibition in Masterton of a contrast collection of sixty facsimile framed reproductions in colour of old masters and modern paintings by famous artists. The display will be in the Masterton Municipal Hall for about a week, commencing on Friday, October 18. The reproductions will be arranged in such a way as to illustrate various influences 'in painting by contrasting pictures by old masters with modern paintings of similar subjects. Mr A. D. Carbery will be in Masterton for the opening of the exhibition and will lecture during the weekend and if further lectures are desired. Mr W. S. Wauchop will visit Masterton during the exhibition, which will be open to the public free of charge. The local committee controlling the exhibition in Masterton has drawn the attention of primary and secondary schools in the town to the display and trusts that the opportunity will be taken to allow school children to visit the exhibition.
