PEACE OR CLASH
JAPANESE PRESS MAGNATE’S VIEW. SUGGESTIONS TO UNITED STATES. (Received This Day, 9.30 a.m.) TOKIO, October 2. Mr Hoshio Mitsunaga, as president of’the Nippon Press Association, has telegraphed Mi- Howard asking for the guidance of the American public so that peace may be preserved in the Pacific area. He said: "The crisis is never so acute but that it may be averted if America abandons the fortification of Pearl Harbour, Guam and Midway, gives up support of General Chiang Kai Shek and restores trade to normality. Otherwise an armed clash is inevitable in the near future. CHINESE INVASION EXPECTED BY WEEKEND. (Received This Day, 9.30 a.m.) TOKIO, October 2. The “Yomiuri Shimbun’s” Hong Kong correspondent says Chinese troops are likely to invade Indo-China by the weekend.
