SHIPPING LOSSES
HIGH FIGURE REACHED, LAST WEEK — admiralty report. NINETEEN MERCHANTMEN SUNK. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, October 1. An Admiralty report states that the British lost 19 merchantmen, totalling 131,857 tons during the week ended on September 22. The German and Italian losses since outbreak of war to September 29 are 1,007,000 and 291,000 tons respectively.
