FISHING SEASON

SOME FINE TROUT LANDED YESTERDAY. sAlb FISH FROM RUAMAHANGA. Although the weather conditions yesterday were not the best for the opening of the fishing season, some exceptionally fine trout were caught in rivers around Masterton. A. beautiful fish of sJlb was secured by Mr F. Perrin in the Ruamahanga River. Mr Perrin was fishing with the minnow but the trout was foul hooked. Another angler in the Ruamahanga landed a four pound fish. A basket of eight, ranging from 21b to 411 b was also obtained from the same river and a limit basket of twelve was reported from the Kopuaranga. In the Eketahuna district the conditions were quite unfavourable owing to discoloured streams.
