Miss A. M. Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today:— Barograph, 30.04. Shade temperature: Maximum 59.5, minimum 42.9, terrestrial 38.9. Sunshine, nil. Raiij, 21 points. SOLWAY RAINFALL. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that rain was measured on 15 days in September. The maximum fall was 1.45 inches on the Sth, and the minimum 2' points on the 10th, 28th and 30th. The total for the month was 3.58 inches, as against 2.18 (1939), 6.37 (1938), 3.99 (1937), 2.25 (1936), 6.35 (1935); average for 37 years, 3.26 inches. The total rainfall for the nine months of the year is 28.89 inches, as compared with 24.11 (1939),-37.99 (1938), 27.09 (1937), 34.98 (1936), 35.30 (1935. The average‘for 37 years is 30.03 inches. Forecast: Southerly winds, strong to gale force in exposed positions, otherwise moderate; weather changeable at. first, with passing showers chiefly in and east of the ranges, but improving tomorrow in the west and south; temperatures cold.
