FASCIST SYMPATHIES

DENIED EMPHATICALLY BY LORD REDESDALE. DOES NOT EVEN KNOW SIR O. MOSLEY. Lord RedesOaie, on his return to London recently from his home on the Scottish island of Inchkenneth, said to a reporter:,— “In view of recent questions in the House of Commons concerning myself and my home in Scotland in which 1 have been described as ‘an associate of the Fascists.’ I desire to make the following statement: — “I have always been most bitterly opposed to any form of Fascism, and can only suppose that I am believed to be a Fascist because my daughter mar-1 ried Sir Oswald Mosley. This marriage, however, was a secret one, and I was not told of it till months after it had taken place. "In point of fact, moreover. I do not even know Sir Oswald Mosley. I have seen him upon only two occasions in • my life, both some years ago. Upon the first I was introduced to him in someone else's house and said. ‘How do you do?' Upon the second I did not even speak to him. Nor have I ever attended any of his public or private meetings. “I certainly blame no man who at this moment does or says anything which he believes, on the information he has, to be in the interests of the safety of the country. But I am very anxious indeed to make it quite plain once and for all that this charge against me is, in fact, completely untrue.” The statement was signed by Lord Redesdale.
