R.A.F. Onslaught

HAVOC WROUGHT IN GERMANY AND CHANNEL PORTS L’ORIENT AGAIN HEAVILY BOMBED Important war industries in Germany were attacked by the R.A.F. on Sunday night, the 8.8. C. states. In one factory a large fire broke out and heavy damage was done. At another works there were ten separate explosions following the attack. An oil and petrol depot was bombed for nearly three hours and blazing petrol could be seen nearly sixty miles away. There was one huge explosion and the fire seemed to be half-a-mile square. Attacks.against German railways were made at a number ot places, explosions and fires occurring. A big raid was made on an aircraft factory near Amsterdam, where fires and explosions in the factory buildings were reported. An aerodrome in Holland from which German planes take off to attack Britain was heavily bombed. A great fire was started in the aerodrome buildings. British bombers also systematically bombed the Belgian, Dutch and French coast, where the German armies of invasion are assembled. The docks at Calais were hit many times in spite of fierce gunfire and the docks at Ostend, Boulogne and Flushing were also attacked. The naval base at L’Orient was fiercely attacked for the third time and the long-range gun emplacements neaj; Calais were again bombed. Three British machines were lost.
