PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEE. MEMBER OF THE GREYMOUTH AERO CLUB. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. According to particulars released by the Director of Publicity, Pilot-Officer F. H. Denton, who has been awarded the D.F.C., is 23 years of age. Born in Greymouth and educated at the Greymouth Technical High School, he was prominent in many sporting activities. He entered the Public Works Department after* leaving school and became a member of the Greymouth Aero Club, later joining the Civil Reserve of Pilots. He was selected for a short service commission in 1939, received preliminary training in the Royal New Zealand Air Force'at Wigram and left for Britain to join the R.A.F. at the end of 1939. His father, Mr F. H. Denton, is well known as the Town Clerk of Greymouth.
